Robert E. Lee Elementary School was the recipient of Easton Foundation grant for the National Archery in the School Program. The grant provided the necessary equipment to kick-start the Archery Program at the school. Mrs. Lauren Lewis completed the grant application on behalf of Robert E. Lee Elementary School. The purpose of the program is to promote the teaching of target archery as a part of the in-school curriculum to improve educational performance of students and encourage participation in the shooting sports.
Tryouts were held in October and a team of 16 students was selected. Students practice two afternoons each week and will compete in Archery competitions throughout the school year.
