I am proud to be starting my 5th year as a Gator! I teach Family and Consumer Science, Event Planning, Food and Nutrition, and Co-Op. FACS is what everyone probably knows as Home Economics. We learn basic sewing skills, life skills like creating a budget, how to look for housing, social and family relationship skills, fashion design, and everyone's favorite...cooking skills. :) Event Planning is an exciting course where we basically plan most of the events around school. We help build the set for the Miss SHS Pageant, cater homecoming and pageant teas as well as Senior Board Night, plan Red Ribbon Week, plan and present our Black History Month Program, and plan and decorate for both Prom and Homecoming. In Food and Nutrition, we delve into the science of food and food production as well as explore food cultures from around the world. We will also be refining some of our cooking skills and methods in this class as well.
I am also the Junior Class sponsor and FCCLA sponsor Family Career and Community Leaders of America is a organization designed to promote personal growth and leadership through Family and Consumer Sciences education. The focus is on becoming community leaders and developing skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, and career preparation. Our FCCLA students competed in the Beef, Pork, and Peanut cooking competition this year and one student won second over all in his division. We plan on attending more competitions this year!
When I am not at school I love spending time with my husband Austin, and our daughters Camille and Addie. I enjoy traveling, trying out new recipes, and attempting to be crafty. We attend Redemption Church. I also enjoy volunteering with the Mobile Jaycees and the Mobile Azalea Trail Maids.
I am an alumni of Satsuma High School and graduated from Troy University with a BS in History Education. I then attended Spring Hill College and graduated with a Masters of Liberal Arts. This is my 10th year of teaching and I am looking foward to an awesome year as a Gator! :)
