The Alabama Regional Future City Competition is a state-wide, project-based learning experience  where students imagine, design, and build cities of the future. Students work as a team with an educator and engineer mentor to plan cities using SimCityTM software; research and write solutions to an engineering problem; build tabletop scale models with recycled materials; and present their ideas before judges annually at the Regional Competition. The 2015-2016 school year marked the first time students from Satsuma City Schools and Robert E. Lee Elementary participated in the Future City Project. Sixth Graders from Lee were selected to participate in the Alabama Regional competition at the U.S. & Rocket Center in Huntsville where their design placed 4th in the state.
